PBC Fund Raising

Fund raising is a great way to get involved in. This is an activity the students would enjoy. The students are sewing bedsheets, comforters, and window curtains in their free time. To be sold on reasonable prices. We also do upholstery jobs and other carpentry works. This fund raising program would not be succesful without the effort of Sister Cresencia "Ine" Mayor. She is our mentor in this field. She taught us how to sew and is now training the students more to come up with better products.

A Letter of Appeal

02/22/08

Dear brothers and sisters, We are pleased to inform you that the Philippine Bible College (PBC) now has 48 students, half of whom study full time and are being supported financially by this local congregation and other kindhearted brethren from other places. Among these supporters is a professional seamstress, sister Christine Mayor, who had taken the initiative to start – using her own income and that of her children – a livelihood project for these students and those who will eventually choose preaching as their vocation. In the past, she held free training on dressmaking for some ladies in the church. Currently, she holds hands-on weekend workshops on sofa repair (including back fill, cushion wrap, and cushion core) for PBC students and other interested members of the local church. The students involved in the project have become quite skillful in this job and are now earning a little income from their work. Through this project, she intends to enable future preachers to become self-supporting and to equip other other members of the church, especially housewives, to acquire sewing or dressmaking skills for livelihood purposes. Brethren from other congregations have started to notice this noble work and at least one congregation in the Province of Pangasinan has asked sister Mayor to conduct a training program for their members. Sister Mayor and a few other generous brethren here, however, cannot take on the financial burden required to sustain this project with only about PhP 10,000 (about 30 USD) as their initial capital for a project that requires at least PhP 100,000 (about 2,150 USD). Since we, the undersigned, have found sister Mayor's work laudable and worthy of our support, we hereby appeal to the generosity of any of you who feel the same way as we do regarding the noble goals of this project. All donations, for the sake of transparency, will have to be coursed through the Baguio Church of Christ or sent to our Metrobank Account # 194 108 2513. Should you be interested to be a stakeholder in this promising venture, please get in touch with us by phone, snail mail, or email.

Yours in His Grace,
